October 12th, 2013 No comments

This is a newsletter about the Toronto 2015 Panamerican Games.

Named Viva 2015, the newsletter has been published since 2010 and it has three language columns nowadays: English, French and Spanish.

The concept of three languages is very appropriate to the very welcoming nature that’s intended for the games.

The newsletter is available from the Toronto 2015 website

To find it, select the ‘Media’ menu option at the right of the main menu,

Online service of the week: pets.ca audio podcast in Canada

June 12th, 2013 No comments

This pleasantly-sounding audio show from Montreal is practically hidden from view at the Pets.ca website.

The presentation focuses mostly on dogs and has been in place since 2006. It is well produced with the added bonus of visits from experts in the field. Shows are clearly numbered and the navigation is very easy.

The earliest show we could find for this review was  #5 from October 2006, so shows 1 through 4 are missing.

This content is timeless and engaging.  It shows how unique services like this can help establish a brand.

This is also a demonstration of the power of a blog/website to engage users.

To access this service, select ‘Pet blog’ from the main menu at the Pets.ca website, followed by the ‘Pet Podcast’ option in the submenu underneath

pets.ca.audio.podcast

It would be a good idea to give the show a more prominent place in the home page. Transcripts for each episode were produced before, they are important for people who do not immediately have sound equipment in place.

Online service discovered: Chrysler vehicle showcase (In Spanish) in Guatemala

May 28th, 2013 No comments

Automercantil in Guatemala offers a detailed product showcase of some of its Chrysler models.

The section in their website is remarkable in that it is custom-made by the company.

Taking the time and effort to provide a Spanish version of the specs is also important for the Latin American market.

It would be a good thing if they could include all products in their Chrysler range.  Also, it seems as though the models are not up to date. Other ranges available are: Dodge and Jeep

Online service definition: staff directory. San Carlos Sija municipality

August 9th, 2012 No comments

A good way to provide information to the citizens of a region is to provide an updated list of staff within a government entity.

Such is the case of the San Carlos Sija municipality in Quetzaltenango, Guatemala (in Spanish)

The following information is listed under ‘Municipality Employees’ on the left hand side:

Public servant’s name, post, photograph and academic level.

In addition to this information, each employee is listed as belonging to a department.

Such openness is to be commended and it makes it easier for anyone to contact them for the first time.

Other features in the SanCarlosSija.com website:

  • Main tourist attractions
  • Several photo albums
  • Information about the town’s fair
