Have you recently gotten an assignment to research on opportunities for distributing parts for hardware stores in Europe?

Would you like to know more about the state of building supplies and market trends?

If so, the news archive from the Hardware Association in Ireland is a very good starting point.

You can access the archive by visiting their website and selecting the Latest News menu button at the top.

Then, on the left towards the bottom you will find the listing of articles by month.  The archive contains information as far back as July 2011.

Online service of the week: Archive of past scouting events at

March 13th, 2013 No comments

The Kandersteg International Scout Center in northern Switzerland is based upon Lord Baden Powell’s wish to establish a permanent place where scouts from all over can meet.

The center has had a long history that spans as far back as the 1920s.

The website contains an event archive describing events as early as 2007. This section provides a pretty good idea about recent activities at the Center and what visitors should expect from their visit while in Kandersteg.

Another unique feature of the website is that all of the sections we checked are translated into German, Italian, French and English and this allows for a wider scout audience.

To access the Event Archive, select ‘Events’ from the main website menu and then ‘Event Archive’ from the left side menu.

Other relevant sections:

Donations, Descriptions about Short Term and Long Term staff options, an award section detailing the types of badges that can be earned at the center.

Online service of the week: NRJ Deutsch (Energy Deutsch) Pop music in German from Switzerland

June 16th, 2011 No comments

Pop music in German, a rising phenomenon for a long time gets a deluxe treatment in this commercial-free station based in Zurich.

Within the same hour you can appreciate both the classic and new, the rapping and the yapping, the sublime and the comic, from Falco to Peter Fox, from the Toten Hosen to Rammstein.  All tunes ooze a single thing in common: hip.

Granted, sometimes acts are clones of established groups in English (cue Fertig Los!), but most of the time you will see creativity bursting through the seams.

It has not been until recently that the station started to add IDs to their radio streams, so that any of those catchy lyrics are a couple of clicks away.

Additional stations in this website:
Energy 80s
Energy Swiss (for swiss-german and francophones alike)
Energy 90s

All stations are available from the Flash-based selector to the right of their home page.

Alternatively, you can locate each stream via the Listen Live Switzerland page.

First regional site added: directory of Europe-wide websites

March 9th, 2011 No comments

This is our first regional entry and it applies to websites that benefit Europe as a whole.  They are usually multilanguage sites.

The .eu top level domain contains European Union federations, organizations,  research bodies, and it is the perfect starting point for the ABC Mundi EU site.  Expect to find here any collaborative efforts that spread across multiple European countries.

Our recommendations: An ultra lean directory for virtually all FM radio stations in Europe. Check out the new additions section. A B2B marketplace for Czech and Slovak leads among others. It is quite remarkable the use of English as the main language and acting almost as a  ‘mediator’. Entrepreneurship training a 29-country effort to promote sustainable urban development in European cities. Centre for the promotion of imports from developing countries. At a time when export is the usual subject in developing countries in the EU, it is refreshing to find a place where imports are discussed. a search portal for advanced studies looking to continue Masters degrees
